“My name is Kirstie Lee; I’m the Chief Experience Officer with SensesWA – WA’s longest standing disability service providers.
How did Alita Constructions come to be the head contractor of the Armadale SensesWA project?
Alita came to us via tender. They were of several organisations that came to us with this build. We were lucky enough to have received a significant bequest to be able to build this fantastic facility for people in the South-East metro area. They came in, on the money, and with a great design.
Can you share your experience of working with Alita Constructions throughout the build?
Alita were fantastic to work with, I have to say. I came in right at the beginning of construction. They helped us finalise the design. We had some very specific requirements, due to accessibility. Being a disability organisation, we had to take in a load of transformation ideas, to make sure it was suitable for everybody. They were fantastic, and it was great that they set up a webcam in the corner of the block, so when it was raised to the ground, we could watch every week, as things progressed. They were fantastic; they kept us up to date so well, and worked with us on all new changes of detail and design features. I was lucky enough to be part of the team that did the design elements as well. They had an inhouse design team. We worked on the finishing touches, and they were fantastic to work with.
Did Alita Constructions meet your expectations as a commercial builder?
Absolutely! I don’t think we were the easiest of customers. We had quite a few changes that needed to be done, and they were so helpful, so professional, always so friendly and willing to try and help us find the right solution. They were really great, and again, they came in on time (well, actually early), under budget, and were the nicest people to work with.
What would be the most well’-matched words to describe Alita Constructions?
I would say that they were professional; of enormous integrity; very willing to listen to the client, and to find those solutions. Just fabulous people.
What would you say to someone considering building with Alita Constructions?
I’d say don’t think too hard or too long. These guys know what they are doing, they are consummate professionals. They will be with you, every step of the journey, and again, they are open to ideas; open to change, and will support you all the way – go for it!”
