Education Projects

While our state government school projects are generally based on open tender, our private school construction projects enable us to partner with the school itself to develop the campus and map out the construction stage of each component. Some of the school-based services we offer include:

• Construction of new classrooms
• Construction of science laboratories
• Construction of workshops
• Construction of administration facilities
• Single storey and double storey buildings
• Multi-use buildings
• The extension of existing buildings
• Master planning of school campuses

We undertake an initial consultation to work out the client’s school construction requirements, the conceptual school designs and the general cost plans. This enables schools to lodge funding applications and commence liaison with statutory authorities for building and design approvals. The process of design coordination means we can select experienced consultants who have pre-existing experience with the design of school buildings.

Building a school requires a construction contractor with a high degree of awareness around coordination and safety. Staff and student safety around the work zone is our number one priority.

As school construction is highly time-sensitive, we prioritize, where possible working on the build through school holidays in order to complete high-risk construction.

Our experience building new facilities at Carey Baptist College in Harrisdale is a testament to this. The 10-stage project required:

• A double-storey complete fit out
• Suitable matching design to pre-existing facilities
• Childcare centre
• Café
• Uniform shop
• Kitchens
• Officers

The build took place over a 12-month period. As such, we implemented a comprehensive risk management plan including the following;

• Ongoing liaison with the school
• Management of school drop-off and pick-up times
• Prioritising flexibility in the work-zone so the school could function as normal

John Calvin Christian College

John Calvin Christian College was completed in Capel in 2018 thanks to a highly successful working partnership between Alita Constructions and the Free Reformed School Association. The finished project included:

• Undercover outdoor area
• Workshop
• Reception area

Rehoboth Christian College

The Rehoboth Christian College build is one of our more recent projects. We built:

• A two storey building with a total 2062m^{2 of} floor space
• 12 x classrooms
• Ablution blocks
• Storage rooms
• Kitchens
• Office areas
• Meeting rooms
• Archiving zones
• Reception space
• Lobby
• Music rooms
• Breakout spaces
